(Everyone Village is about to be a part of a community effort that will be perhaps our largest and most exciting project yet. We will publish our own update very soon because the first cottages are being built right here at the village. For now, check out this press release by one of our partners, One Hope Network.)
“Community Rallies Together to Begin Cottages of Hope:
Churches, Lane County Schools, Businesses and Nonprofits Build Cottages to Address Lane County’s Housing Crisis.
Wednesday, August 17 2022
In response to the ongoing transitional housing crisis, community stakeholders are coming together to develop a reproducible model where any team, business or community group can build a 16×8 cottage for approximately $5,000. Under the direction of skilled contractors, simple plans have been developed and a process put in place to multiply the number of transitional homes in Lane County for people experiencing homelessness. This empowers caring community groups with a tangible method to make an impact in Lane County’s housing shortage.
Cottages of Hope is organized by the One Hope Network and EveryOne Village, working in partnership with Lane Workforce Partnership, Lane ESD and SquareOne Villages.
The network of community stakeholders behind Cottages of Hope first began with Sheds of Hope, an initiative birthed in response to the Holiday Farm Fire. In two years, 26 businesses, 36 churches, and 12 Lane County high schools built 143 sheds for fire survivors. It became clear to Sheds of Hope partners that the response to the Holiday Farm Fire, prepared the network to respond to this on-going crisis.”
